So I just did me some talkin' to the sun

And I said I didn't like the way he got things done

Sleepin' on the job

Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'

I do like to contemplate a good storm, especially tropical ones, when you actually feel them coming… the aroma of wet sand, dry wind and the sudden darkness throughout a sunny day followed by the big fat tingling drops.

It’s been raining a lot in Luanda, you might assume that is a gift,

“We’re in Africa!!! On TV it always look dry as hell”

, but nah! Not everyone enjoys the aesthetic appeal of it. Like in Europe no one wants to be caught in the rain, just get home as soon as possible to avoid the nightmare of traffic jam, flooded roads, etc it really gets chaotic.

Now imagine gettin to your place finally safe and all soaked "You, the Car and the House"! And tomorrow will be another day...

It's been 20 months already since I "first" landed in Angola, although it is said that time flies while you having fun! Here I’ve been feeling like I’m descending the fun on the wing of time!

Every month I get a bit more tired, the apprehension and stress, triggers the emotional detachment on a tentative to operate intellectually reasonable, when the emotional connection would be appropriate…

And the "excuse" here is always the same ... the freaky town of Luanda!

Sh*t!!!

The intelligent dreamer, the smart lazy, the clever workaholic, the bright kid, the brilliant gold digger, the mysterious sensitive, the brainy player, the gifted not fully formed and so on...

For all different reasons we’ve crossed paths in the bubble! Some sadly indifferently have left, more will accidently come and who knows who will intentionally stay in the picture!

Wish I could describe everyone without making assumptions, but all I can make out is based on spontaneous assessments with a huge lack of particulars, the ones that are probably the reason why most of us never hanged out in the same orbit before …

Meanwhile I observe, connect and amuse myself with the family member's revelations , making me wonder sometimes, if I'm that familiar with the first inhabitants I love to sight when I land in the impact zone!!!

I feel oppressed and selfish to read this from the "backstage". Because although we call them crazy, there's a big tip of sense on what they're doing!

"Everybody knows that they're guilty
Everybody knows that they've lied"
Freedom Time, Lauryn Hill

Here we live like back in the days when you weren't able to seat at the table with your own father, you weren't allow to question any of his actions or look him in the eyes. Just keep the house quiet even when he was coming home drunk, about to beat your mum.

Right now I feel like a grown up individual that is able to help pay the bills, but because I live under his sealing I have the RIGHT to be quiet or leave the house!!!!

Yesterday I had one of those Luanda days...So as usual, I decided to play the drama queen and scream a little bit. Sent an email to Pocha mentioning that I was fed up with this city and decided to start planning my move to Oz this year!

To what the reply was, as simple as:
"YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

WOO HOO!!!! I knew you would come to your senses :)"

I couldn't contain the laugh when I read it ! ... hahahaha

Ever finally made it to France to see his baby Maelo birth!

He was in such a stress with his passport and the impossibility to travel, that when I called him last Friday to check how things were going, I didn't even recognized is sad voice!

Honestly is one of the most interesting people I've met in my short experience here so far, with a beautiful attitude towards life.
Born and raised in Cuba he got countless stories to share that even sounding horrific he manages to inspire a laugh!

All the best buddy! I'll miss you for sure...but I'm happy for you!

LOOP

A way to get out of the loop is to Find something new to do!

I think I'm gonna start training again, with these guys from ABADA Capoeira!

I still remember how impressed I got when my French teacher, at the office, shared with us that the reason why he had to wear such big glasses was the long nights of study by the Candlelight, to be able to keep up with the other students at school, which subjects were though in a "new" native language.

And today here I am, typing on my cute notebook until the battery survives. =)

Got home with power generator soundtrack, tried to do as much as I could using natural light, until I decided to get less bored at my aunty's place. She tents to act like my mum forcing me to have dinner every time I come by =)!

For a while listened to my aunt making jokes about the shining long fake hair of a TV host that “was” once my uncle’s lover, enough time to escape from the obligated dinner.

Off I went...
and kept going on my get less bored journey, now to another aunt that also lives close by, needed to give her some money to pay my Internet bill, usually I can’t do it because Movicel shares the same business hours with me, no E-payment, ATM or Whatsoever as alternative, or I go to work or pay the Internet bill!!!

Found her sitting at the doorstep, sipping her cold beer from a glass that my mum labels as "Reco Reco" (or IKEA for the up to date generation, the ones we could break without making her get mad) and enjoying the fresh breeze.

We laugh with the fact that I forgot where I left something, again!!!!! This time was my Portuguese self phone.
“That’s what happens when you have home everywhere, kept those in Portugal, threw this away in UK, got that in Angola, forgot this in Australia...”

And we chat for a while... until she raised the deadlock question:

"So now you're going to stay, right?"
The soft water keeps hiting the hard rock with the same question all over again =) !Replied that I didn’t know, but most probably not, to what she argued back:

"Why not? You got yourself a good job... You were born here, right!? And even if you leave you will always want to come back! Here’s your country!!!"

"I know BUT I have NO lights tonight..."

Finally made myself home with this on my head and decided to write about it by the Candlelight...

Topic of the week in Luanda, was a melon that a customer of "Casa dos frescos" (grocery shop) found on sale for the ridiculous price of 9.803.01kzs, 105.40usd.

He was so revolted with a Rip-off that decided to spread a complain letter in the form of email chain that everyone is talking about!!!

hehehe Wondering that I used to complain for the price of 1$ per kiwi sold in Sydney, with New Zealand so close... In Portugal imported kiwis from New Zealand cost around 3 Euros/kg!!!! Funny hey????!

Welcome to the market of price speculation MATE!!!!!!!!
Maybe is time to start considering bargain with the ladies with fruit buckets on the street... Sounds more like a FAIR TRADE!

Malongo

Traveled up to Cabinda today for a two days visit in Malongo.

Apparently rained a lot during the night and even the airport runway was fluded! The plane I was traveling in was still able to land while I was looking at the window watching all that water, thinking:
"Hope this doesn’t get slippery"
... Guess what!?The next plane didn't have the same luck... fortunately was just a scary moment and nobody got hurt.

Where I'll be staying this time!
